Good communication is key to all emergency operations. Dispatcher Communications personnel answers emergency and non-emergency phone calls, computer data enters the calls for police services into the dispatch computer system. Dispatchers monitor police radio communications and the city wide security camera network. Dispatchers must be able to remain calm during stressful events. Applicants will be required to complete communication skills exams. Dispatch Communication Officers enjoy paid health insurance, sick and vacation leave, holiday pay and retirement benefits.
Dispatch Communication Officers must be a U.S. Citizen, 18 years of age with a clear background and of good character. They also must have a high school diploma or GED equivilant.
